<p>Usilampatti is a town in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. M Manikandan, the National Award-winning director, is best known for helming critically acclaimed films like Kaaka Muttai and Kadaisi Vivasayi. Regretfully, there have been rumors in recent times that thieves have targeted his Usilampatti property. It is said that the culprits entered into his home and took more than Rs 1 lakh in cash and more than five sovereigns worth of gold.</p>

<p>Manikandan was in Chennai at the time of the break-in, according to the investigations, however it’s yet unknown whether any additional items were stolen from the home. Regarding the occurrence, a formal complaint has been made to the police. To identify and capture the culprits, officials from the Usilampatti Nagar Police Station have launched an inquiry.</p>
<p>In addition, the actress Kasiammal—who gained notoriety for her supporting work in Kadisi Vivasayi—was purportedly killed by her drunken son after a disagreement over money. When Nammakodi, her 51-year-old son, asked for money to buy booze, the 74-year-old refused to give it to him. The mother and son got into an altercation, during which Nammakodi allegedly hit her with a wooden slab, killing her. The confrontation sadly resulted in Kasiammal’s death on February 4 around 3 AM.</p>
<p>It was announced in August 2023 that filmmaker Manikandan would launch a new series on Disney+ Hotstar, marking his OTT platform debut. Vijay Sethupathi plays the main character in the series, which is their third joint venture after Aandavan Kattalai and Kadaisi Vivasayi. The Tamil Nadu hometown of Manikandan, Usilampatti, hosted the web series premiere. The series, which is produced by P Arumugakumar of 7C’s Entertainment Pvt Ltd, features Shanmugasundaram’s cinematography and Rajesh Murugesan’s music.</p>
<p>Vijay Sethupathi shared his excitement on social media by sharing a photo from the puja ceremony and writing, “Happy to start my first web series in Tamil, Directed by #Manikandan with an auspicious pooja!” An official confirmation is still anticipated, despite rumors indicating Bollywood star Jackie Shroff’s participation in the production.</p>
